Your Visit

Dear Copper Hunter(s),

Thank you for your reservation with Caledonia Copper Mine. As your visit to the Upper Peninsula’s Copper Country approaches, we would like to remind you of a few important details regarding ore pile dig.

  • Please review our map with directions to the mine site. Make sure to use this map, NOT your GPS (if you were to use your GPS it will most likely direct you down a closed road and/or ATV trail), you will want to travel through Mass City/Greenland. You will be driving on a mine rock road, it is approximately two miles to the copper mine.
  • We are on Eastern Standard time
  • Mine gate opens at 9:00 a.m., please arrive no sooner than 9:00 a.m., digging will begin at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m.
  • We will begin with visitor orientation and signing of our waiver/hold harmless forms.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Waivers MUST be signed for all adults and children present
  • Closed toed shoes are required
  • Every person participating MUST will eye protection, whether it be safety glasses or goggles.
  • We recommend that you wear gloves to protect your hands from the sharp edges on rocks.
  • We have a portable restroom on site.
  • We will provide you with minimal snacks and bottled water, but please feel free to bring a cooler of your own.
  • Make sure to check the local weather and dress accordingly, keep in mind that we dig rain or shine!
